Declaring Direction + Destiny: A Better Word
What Is a "Foreword"?
Just like a book’s foreword sets the tone and builds anticipation, this our life would do good to have a foreword in order to aligning our hearts with God’s Word—not just in our spiritual walk, but in every area of life.
- Ministry
- Family
- Finances
- Relationships
- Emotions
The enemy has worked tirelessly to hold us back, whispering lies that keep us stuck in the past. But God says that the best is ahead—our harvest, our joy, our victory.
A Better Word (Hebrews 12:24)
The Bible tells us that the blood of Jesus speaks “a better word” than the blood of Abel. Abel’s blood cried out for justice; Christ’s blood cries out for grace, forgiveness, and redemption. His Word resonates with our deepest need for hope and restoration.
The truth is, we are formed by words. It was true in Genesis when God formed us through his Word, and the pattern continues today. The question, which words are going to form us? The negative words around us? The criticisms spoken about us? Or the Word of God spoken over us?
Choosing "A Better Word"
- Read the Word Engaging with Scripture is transformative. Studies show that only 6% of Christians have read the Bible cover to cover. Let’s become part of the 6% club!
2. Memorize the Word Psalm 119:11 reminds us to hide God’s Word in our hearts. When we memorize Scripture, it becomes the anchor we rely on during trials.
3. Declare the Word Words have power. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Declare God’s promises over your life. Don’t sabotage your future with careless words. Instead, align your declarations with God’s truth.
4. Live the Word Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Living forward means walking in obedience to God’s Word. It’s not enough to read or declare—it’s about action.
Moving Forward
Throughout Scripture, we see examples of individuals stepping forward into their God-given destinies:
- Moses led Israel through the Red Sea.
- Joshua crossed the Jordan River at flood stage.
- Esther risked her life to save her people.
- David stepped out as a shepherd boy and became king.
What Is Your ForeWORD?
Ask God for a passage of Scripture that will define your direction and destiny. Write it down. Memorize it. Declare it. Live it.
We can’t go back. The past has nothing for us. Our God is a forward-moving God, and His Word speaks a better word over our lives.
It’s time to move “foreword”. Your best days are ahead. Let’s declare direction and destiny together!
